A part of the 16th century Beaton Panels. They were made for Cardinal David Beaton possibly for his private apartment in St Andrews Castle. Later they were installed in the dining room of Balfour House in Fife. There were originally seven main panels, the detail in the photograph shows the Tree of Jesse copied from a Book of Hourse printed in France in the 1520s or 1530s.
