Friday 31 January 2014 Aberystwyth Wales UK Contractors work against the clock to finish repairs to the promenade in advance of tonights expected high tide and storm surge at Aberystwyth University authorities closed their seafront halls of residence as a precautionary measure at this afternoon in advance of forecast high winds and stormy seas. Of the 600 students living on the seafront, about 450 are in university-owned accommodation. They are being offered alternative accommodation on the university campus, or financial help to return home for the weekend.
