A plaque recording the names of those who died in the 1953 floods at Hunstanton South Beach, Norfolk, England
This plaque near the start of the cliffs at Hunstanton in Norfolk remembers those who died in the floods of 31 January 1953. More than 300 people died, making it the worst peacetime disaster in Britain of the 20th century. 31 people living on the South Beach Road in Hunstanton died, of whom 16 were American servicemen and their families living away from local air-bases.
