He was an officer in theMarion Infantry in volunteer days, under Capt. removed to Stephenson County, 111., and enteredinto the mercantile business. He was elected a cap-tain of a company in the Forty-sixth Illinois, andwas badly wounded in the battle of Pittsburgh Land-ing, April 6, 1862, and died after amputation of hislimb at Quincy, 111., April 24th, aged twenty-eightyears.
