[30 Days*. OPENING OF THE FRANCO-BRITISH EXHIBITION BY THE PRINCE OF WALES. FRANCO-BRITISHEXHIBITION. The London event of 1908 was the Franco-British Exhibition, or the White City as it wasnamed. The finest productions in manu-facture, art, and science from the twocountries were exhibited in the score of tem-porary palaces, which during the summer werevisited by millions of the two nations. Theexhibition was opened in state by the Princeof Wales on May 14th ; it covered over150 acres of ground, and though not as largeas the Worlds Fair of Chicago it comparedmost favourably in beauty and excellenceof exhibits with that colossal fair. Thebuildings were built of steel and concrete, andwere strong enough to stand several yearswear.
