A female tourist stops to take a selfie on the deeply rutted pavement of the Roman-era roadway that passes through Hadrian's Gate, a beautifully preserved ancient archway in Kaleici, Antalya, Turkey (Turkiye). The gate was discovered during excavations in the 1950s and is believed to have been built in the second century AD during the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Despite its age, the gate and its surrounding area have been remarkably well-preserved, providing a glimpse into the history of the region. Visitors can walk through the gate and marvel at its intricate carvings and imposing presence, as well as the fascinating Roman pavement beneath their feet.
