Lobster fossil. Rock containing a fossil of a Homarus hakelensis lobster. Fossils appear as rock slowly forms around objects buried in mud. As the rock forms, the shape and anatomy of buried animals and plants can be preserved. This specimen measures 10 centimetres in length and dates from around 95 million years ago in the Cenomanian age of the late Cretaceous epoch.
