He diedin St. John in 1788, and his body wasplaced in the Putnam tomb. The secondrector of Trinity Ghurch was the Byles, Jr., who was the last rec-tor of Christ Church, Boston, and whowas a son of the Rev. Mather Byles, alsoof Boston, who was the first pastor ofHoUis Street Church. Old Trinity Churchin St. John was destroyed by the greatfire of 1877, but the precious relic ofthe revolution, the royal arms, was savedand now adorns the walls of the hand-some stone structure which has beenerected in plac
