Barnard Canteen, 1918 or 1919. Soldiers seated around a table in the Columbia University Gould Boathouse, 115th and Riverside Drive, New York City. Barnard College set up a canteen in the boathouse for soldiers who were traveling through New York City on their way home from World War I. The canteen opened on March 6, 1918 and closed on March 24, 1919.
