Cruelty to animals. A group of men beat a horse. After a work in an 1865 edition of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. The picture was later reprinted by the newspaper in 1866 after Henry Burgh, 1813 - 1888, founded the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) days after legislation was passed in the USA against animal cruelty.
