Optical image of the constellation of Orion and Barnard's Loop (red, lower frame) above La Palma, Canary Islands. The nebulosity around the star Meissa (upper left) is also visible. The nebulae within the Loop are the Great Orion Nebula (M42), the Flame Nebula, and the Horsehead Nebula. The Running Man Nebula and M78 are also visible. Bright blue star Rigel, at Orion's knee, is on the right and the red star Betelgeuse, at Orion's shoulder, is on the left.
