C(iiarty (xl: Mont Alia.,Pc Simpson, 1888, from reduced photograph of specimen by Rev. J. Edgar, Prest. Wilson Female College, Chambersburg, Pa., discovered by Col. Wiestling in thefoundaiion wall of old saw- mill at Mt. Alto Iron Works, and traditionally taken from a quarry of hard rough sandstone, east of the company's oiRce, up the mountain side, above another quarry of soft crumbling sandstone presumably No. 1, Potsdam formation. Search at the quarry failed to find another specimen. It seems impossi- ble that Medina Sandstone (No. IV) should be there. The fos- sil resembles that of the Medina, but imitates a crinoid stem by regular cross lines on a flat surface. The '' White Rocks" north of Moat Alto resemble Chiques Rock quartzite at Colum-.
