NYIRAGONGO, DR CONGO: STRIKING pictures and video from one of the world’s most destructive volcanos shows lava brimming as increased activity has led scientists to believe Africa will be shortly rocked by a potentially disastrous eruption. The pictures capture the bright red lava bubbling against the stark contrast of the dark ground in the pitch black of night at the Nyiragongo Volcano in the Democratic Republic of Congo – which travelled up to 37 miles-per-hour in a deadly magma stream which killed 147 people when it last erupted in 2002.
