One elephant weighing 12,000pounds pulled 8,750 pounds or 3,250 lessthan its weight. Fifty men, pounds in weight, pulled , or just as much as the single ele-phant; but, like the horses, they pulledmore than their own weight. One hun-dred men pulled 12,000 pounds.
