There, in the presence of Thorvaldsens religiousworks, was celebrated the funeral service. The prior of thecathedral, the Rev. Herr Tryde, preached a sermon; andafter the ceremonj^ the crowd dispersed slowly and felt that the whole nation had met with a grievousloss. The remains of the illustrious sculptor rested nearly fouryears in a chapel of the Frue Kirke, awaiting the completionof the interior of the museum; and it was not until Sept. 6,1848, that the body was laid in the vault, in the centre of theThorvaldsen Museum.
