A blunderbuss for a Thurn & Taxis post coachman, Regensburg(?), circa 1800. Two-stage barrel, octagonal becoming round with a wide, horizontally oval muzzle. Simple flintlock with a slightly cambered lock plate. Walnut half stock with iron furniture. Brass escutcheon displaying the crowned coat of arms of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis. The right side of the butt stock has a clear brand displaying the inscription "KAI. REICHSPOST - SALVAGARDIA" around a double-headed eagle. The side opposite the lock has been branded "FURTH".
