A Russian sabre with splendid, part-gilt blade, (probably) Zlatoust, mid-19th century Curved, fullered and previously blued single-edged blade with yelmen. Profusely etched and part-gilt on both sides. The lower part of the blade with damascened ground, the upper part with scenes from mythology, crescent moon and trophies. The back of the blade etched with crescent moons on gilt ground. Probably an originally unassociated brass hilt and steel scabbard, presumably added in the later period of use. Length 95 cm.
