PACIFIC OCEAN (March 24, 2021) A Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, operates an aircraft aboard Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during routine flight operations. This is the first time the F-35B and AV-8B Harrier with Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 214, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are training on the same flight deck using Essex as a launch platform.
