France, satellite image. North is at top. Green areas are vegetated. Yellow areas are dry. White areas are ice. This image is centred on France. The French capital city, Paris, can be seen as the grey area in the north of the country. In the east are the Alps (white area) which run south west to the Mediterranean coast. West of the Mediterranean and southwest of France is Spain. Spain has a semi-arid interior (yellow). North of Spain is the Bay of Biscay and further to the north is the south coast of England.
