Cpl. Donald Walsh, 21, from Kenmore, New York, has a small hole in his flak jacket caused by an M79 grenade during an operation by the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam on December 23, 1967. Fortunately, the flak jacket was able to save his life. This photograph was taken by Cpl. Martinez and is part of the Defense Department's official collection.
