Pseudogout in the wrist of a 94 year old female patient. Pseudogout is a type of arthritis characterised by joint inflammation and painful swelling. While it most commonly affects the knees, it can also impact the elbows, ankles, wrists, shoulders, or hands. Pseudogout attacks can occur suddenly and may last for days or weeks. Pseudogout is also referred to as calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPPD). Treatment for this condition involves the use of anti-inflammatories and corticosteroids. For another image of this patient see SPL code C060/1976.
