The left armshould be placed on the desk at rightangles to the right, as a prop to steadyand support the body, thus giving theright arm and hand perfect freeiJom for afree and easy movement The elbowsshould be kept 4 or 5 inches from the POSITION OP PENnOLDBR. It should be held lightly between thethumb and first and second fingers, lettingit cross the second finger at the root of thenail about J inch from the pens point andthe first finger opposite the knuckles. Thethumb should be bent outward at the firstjoint, and the upper end of it placedagainst the holder opposite the first jointof the forefinger. The third and fourthfingers should be bent into the hollow ofthe hand enough to form an easy slidingrest on the tips of the nails. The wristshould be kept straight and not allowed torest on anything.
