Trolleybus, Wolverhampton Road, Wednesfield,

Trolleybus, Wolverhampton Road, Wednesfield, 8675. A Wolverhampton Corporation Transport trolleybus (No. 2) at New Cross on Wolverhampton Road, Wednesfield, on its way to Wednesfield. The photograph was taken during the same year that the converted tramway officially opened on October 29, 1923. This was the first route inaugurated by Wolverhampton Corporation Transport. It was only able to carry single decker buses because of the difficulties posed by the railway bridge at the lower end of Broad Street, Wolverhampton. Note the connection rods on the roof that make contact with the overhead lines (top of photograph). The Wolverhampton coat of arms can be seen on the front of the trolleybus.
