Little gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus), 19th century artwork. This is the smallest of the gulls. It breeds in freshwater marshes in northern Europe and Asia, moving southwards to western Europe and the Mediterranean for the winter. It feeds at the water's surface on fish and crustaceans, and will also catch insects in the air. Artwork printed in 1866.
