The bishops, at the instance of Bishop Madison, put on record theexpression of their views on the matter of the comprehension of the Methodist body in the Church, — a schemevery dear to the heart of the Bishop of Vir-ginia. The plan, as it took shape in themind of its author, did not embrace thecomprehending of this already large andrespectable body on the condition of theirretaining their organization; but, by anaccommodation to them in a few instances,inducing them fr to give up their peculiardiscipline and conform to the leading part
