Epidemic diseases of any kind never obtaina footing here; Marysville has been singularly free from such afflictions. Withthe fast increasing tide of immigration which is now turning to California, and withthe new and varied industries which are now springing up here, as the producingpower of the lands are becoming known, Marysville will, in a short space of time,no doubt, be one of the leading towns of California. It isthe northern terminus of the Northern California Railroad, which runs fromMarysville, 28 miles to the south. The town is well built, the business buildingsbeing of brick, and the residences are almost universally neat and handsome,surrounded with lawns set with a wealth of flowers, palms and blooming orangetrees. The church and school facilities are all that could be desired. One dailyand two weekly papers are published.
