Klines Ministry On March 25, 1908, Rev. Marion Justus Kline, , generalsecretary of the Hoard of Foreign Missions, was unanimouslyelected pastor of the First Church. On June 1, igoS, he enteredupon his pastorate. On September 27, 1908, he was formallyinstalled as pastor. The sermons to the congregation and thepastor were preached at the morning and evening services byRev. O. C. Roth, , Dr. Klines predecessor. By authority ofthe president of the Alleghany Synod, Dr. Roth performed theact of REV. MARION JUSTUS KLINE, , ALTOONA The splendid development begun in the pastorate of Dr. Roth,along missionary and benevolent lines, continued in the pastorateof I >r. Kline. The support of Rev. D. A. Davy of Unity Church,Chicago, 111., was continued for two years at $500 a year untilthe congregation became self-supporting. The support of anAmerican missionary in Africa was continued for six years dur-ing tin- pastorate. Special home mission and church extensionappropriations were made for the support of pastors in mission 377 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE fields; toward the erection of churches and parsonages; assistingin the payment of indebtedness on mission churches and anannuity given to the Womans Home and Foreign MissionarySociety of $1,000 and other missionary activities aggregating over$3,000.
