Differential interference contrast (DIC) light micrograph of Pandorina sp. freshwater green algae. These are globular colonies with 8 or 16 biflagellate cells that are closely adherent at their bases. The cells are surrounded by a layer of mucilage. Some of the cells have their red eyespots in focus. Magnification: x420 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
