Zincite and fraklinite. Close-up of zincite (reddish) and franklinite crystals (grey) in a calcite host rock (white). Zincite is the crystalline form of zinc oxide, and an important source of the metal zinc. Franklinite is zinc iron oxide, essentially a zinc-rich magnetite and a member of the spinel group of minerals.
