New route signs at bus shelters in New York inform commuters of time for bus arrival


The New York City Dept of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transit Authority announce on Tuesday August 11 2009 the installation of signs using GPS tracking technology on bus shelters which will tell commuters how long it will take for their bus to arrive The pilot program is installed along 30 buses on the M34 and M16 lines running along the heavily trafficed 34th street corridor Although it won t speed up the notoriously slow routes riders will at least have an inkling of where their bus is and when it will arrive Richard B Levine
