The other property,on the south side of the river, was given up to general farming and the raising ofwalnuts. Upon Mr. Yorbas death, the family moved to this last-mentioned ranch, andthere erected a large and modern residence, in which they have since resided, .\lthoughMr. Yorba was very optimistic in his belief of a great future for Orange County, yet inhis most optimistic moments he could not have dreamed of the wealth so soon to bebrought from the depths under these lands; and on his original home place the UnionOil Company is now sinking wells for oil, and have been rewarded with an yL.^L.(^VU<^ / /irK<rt^<-^
