Levonelle tablets. Levonelle is the trade name for an emergency contraception pill, also known as the 'morning after pill'. This is used to help prevent pregnancy following unprotected sex. It provides a high dose of levonorgestrel, a synthetic derivative of progesterone. It is thought to work by tricking the body into thinking fertilisation has already occurred, preventing further ovulation.
