Satellite images of the areas surrounding the Meuse and Roer rivers in the Netherlands and Belgium on 16th June 2021 (left) and 18th July 2021 (right). The flooding seen at right resulted from more than a month's worth of rain falling in 24 hours. The flooding caused massive damage to buildings and infrastructure and the loss of at least 180 lives. Images obtained by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite.
