A German Pappenheim rapier,circa 1640 Double-edged blade,inscribed "GIO KNECT" within the short fuller on one side and "EN SOLINGEN" on the other. Iron swept hilt with remains of gold plating and inserted,finely pierced guard plates(small loss). Grip with iron wire winding. Fluted cylindrical pommel with small rivetted finial. One terminal of the quillons and one bar missing(remains of old repairs),the hilt slightly dented.
