Memorial Katyn - the place of execution of Polish officers in the Katyn Forest (Smolensk region, Russia). Memorial Katyn is located 20 kilometers from the center of the city of Smolensk, Russia. Katyn Massacre - the mass murder of Polish nationals (mostly captured Polish army officers), implemented in the spring of 1940 by the NKVD of the USSR.
