But at that time neither the chorion northe villi have a proper vascular apparatus, since it is not until after the allantois,together with the umbilical vessels, has become applied to the chorion, that anyvessels can be detected going from this membrane, either to penetrate into allthe villi, or only, perhaps, into a portion of them. The chorion is enveloped in a great measure by the reflexed or epichorial deci-dua, which separates it from the parietal decidua; and is in contact, by a restrictedsurface, with a portion of the mucous membrane which constitutes the utero- // IE.
