In the winter of 1837, there was a very handsomeFancy Ball given at the residence of Mrs Benja-min I. Cohen, on the southwest corner of Charles andSaratoga Streets, which was one of the notable socialevents that has taken place in Baltimore. This Fancy Ball was so successful, that it was re-peated, later in the winter, at the Assembly Rooms, onthe corner of Holiday and Fayette streets. C. B. Tiernan found among his Fathers papers, twoprinted descriptions of it, in which the names of theIjadies and Gentlemen who had taken part in it, wereprinted in Italics; and had been filled out by CharlesTiernan in lead pencil.
