Birthplace of Raoul Wallenberg (Kappsta, Lidingö)
Raoul Wallenberg was born on Lidingö on 4th August 1912. He spent his summers together with his mother at the home of his maternal grandfather, Per Johan Wising, in Kappsta on southern Lidingö. His father had died three months before Raoul was born. The house in Kappsta was destroyed by fire in the 1930s and only the foundation remains today. Work of art by Ulla and Gustav Kraitz, symbolising his work in Budapest 1944-1945.
