Total sales, however, were greater than those of a year ago and, in a number of cases, better prices were secured on first-grade offerings than formerly. In some cases retailers, who had purchased lightly in anticipation of slower business, had to send calls for more stock at the last minute. Chrysanthemums were in the largest demand and advertising by the Seattle Florists' Association, aided by the individual efforts of the retailers, is admitted to have been the promoting factor.
