Horizontal strata of shale and intruded dolerite sill near Kap Lee, Edgoya, Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. Runoff from melting remnant snowpatches in gullies feeds streams and erodes the steep mountainside. Weathering and solifluction has smoothed out the landforms in this permafrost area. Two mudflows are visible at lower right.
