The Dipo Ceremony is held in the Krobo area of the Eastern Region in Ghana, West Africa. Young girls undergo a series of tests and tasks to prove their chastity. The wearing of traditional beads plays a large role in the ceremony since the area is known for its beadmaking industry. By the time the ceremony ends after five days, the girls are wearing hundreds of bead necklaces weighing as much as 60 kilograms.
