Carved stone windows in Ladkhan temple in Aihole, Karnataka,India
Aihole, a tranquil village on the banks of the Malaprabha River, is acclaimed as the cradle of Hindu temple architecture. There are about 125 temples divided into 22 groups scattered all over the villages and nearby fields. Most of these temples were built between the 6th & 8th century. Lad Khan temple consists of a shrine with two mantapas in front of it. The windows are filled with lattice style which is a north Indian style. The temple was built in late 7th or early 8th century.
