Fire in the station house in 1923, when a fire -divided most of the upstairs, a thorough modernization and expansion of it was carried out. In connection with this, the tracks and the platforms were relocated out of the track hall which were rebuilt and furnished into a spacious waiting room. Removal and extension of the station's track system was made in 1927-30 before BJ's transfer of its passenger traffic to the Central Station May 15, 1930. The name was changed on to "Gothenburg Central".
