Low-energy antiproton ring (LEAR) at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory), near Geneva, Switzerland. This apparatus was used to slow down antiprotons. In 1995, physicists produced an antihydrogen atom by forcing a positron to stick to a antiproton in the LEAR. This was the first antimatter atom ever created.
