Australopithecus sediba fossil skeletons. These casts of skeleton bones are part of exact replicas of Malapa Hominin 1 (MH1, right) and Malapa Hominin 2 (MH2, left), the most complete fossil skeletons found of Australopithecus sediba. A. sediba is one of a number of species that form part of the early human evolutionary tree. These fossils date from around million years ago in the early Pleistocene. They were found from August 2008 at Malapa Cave in South Africa, with the skull of MH1 discovered in March 2009. MH1 is a juvenile male, while MH2 is an adult female. Replicas provided by the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
