A magazine photograph showing Maple Hill, Wabaunsee County, Kansas, USA in earlier times. In 1919 a skeleton was discovered in a sack to the right of the building on the extreme right of the picture and human bones and a skull were discovered by Fred Banta in an old shed just off the main street. The discovery was made whilst cleaning up the property for Mrs. Clements, who had recently bought it. The finds resulted in a murder hunt. Local man and feared neighbour (bad tempered Rufus 'Rufe' King was found guilt of three murders and sentenced to life in prison. He narroly avoided a lynching.
