Sheringham beach (Norfolk, England) in 1904 with bathers tents, parasols, deckchairs etc. Its official motto is Mare Ditat Pinusque Decorat, Latin for "The sea enriches and the pine adorns". Its old name in the Domesday Book was Silingeham, later Silingeham, Siringeham & Scheringham. Upper Sheringham was traditionally a farming community, and Lower Sheringham relied on farming with fishing.
