A Large bronze sculpture of a stag with his doe and a fawn, by the sculptor George Gardet, in the Parc de Sceaux. South of Paris. France.
This large bronze sculpture of a stag with his doe and a fawn is by the French sculptor George Gardet 1863-1939. It is one of a pair of giant heroic pieces which were placed in the grounds of the Château de Sceaux in 1933. The sculptures flank a large flight of steps leading down to the waters edge of the Octagon Basin, part of an immense system of geometric Canals and lakes in the Parc de Sceaux. Situated in the southern environs of Paris, this beautiful park was designed by the famous 17th century landscape architect “André Le Nôtre”.
