Panoramic view of the Shrine and Gardens of the Báb in Haifa, Israel, seen from the top of Mount Carmel b5

Haifa is a northern Israeli port city built from the Mediterranean up the slopes of Mount Carmel. This modern city is Israel's third largest, after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Unusually for Israel, there are relatively few sites of great history or archaeological significance to see here, just a rather lovely modern, cosmopolitan city. Probably its most iconic landmark is the gold-domed Shrine of the Bábare, set in immaculately landscaped terraces of the Bahá'í Gardens. These are the centre of the Bahá'í faith. Established in the 18th century, this teaches the essential worth of all religions and the unity of all people The Temple and Hanging Gardens of Haifa, have become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Israel. Here, looking down, we see them from the top of Mount Carmel.
