Thoughts on the prophecies of Daniel; . giving sentence of death against Jesus he shall be broken without hand, an expression whichidentifies the destruction of this power with the smiting of theimage of chapter 2. Verse 2G. And the vision of the evening and the morning whichwas told is true ; wherefore shut thou up tlie vision; for it shall be formany days. 27. And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days ; after-ward I rose up, and did the kings business; and I was astonished at thevision, but none understood it. The vision of the evening and the morning, is that of tlie2300 days. In view of the long period of oppression, and thecalamities which were to come upon his people, Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days. He was astonished at the vision, but did not understand it. Why did not Gabriel at this timefully carry out his instructions, and cause Daniel to understandthe vision?—Because Daniel had received all that he could tlienbear. Further instruction is therefore deferred to a future time. Q^prmlr^/x.
